Market Politics

Greetings!

Hope you’ve all had a great weekend. Each week, I will highlight one central idea for you to think through on your own. The goal, as always, is to break down the complex and make it as digestible as possible.

This Week: Market Politics

As we head into general election week, I wanted to share 3 quick thoughts.

Hopefully, these thoughts will unite rather than divide us.

1) The market’s performance transcends who is sitting in office. (See image below).

2) Your own personal investing plan should transcend who is sitting in office. As in, if you’re ever thinking of shifting your asset allocation because of who might be in office, might want to see if that language was part of your initial plan!

3) Regardless of who sits in office, it is never in a politician’s best interest to hinder the growth of the US economy, and in turn, hinder the continued growth of the markets. Remember, everyone sitting in those elected seats will also one day retire and they, too, will need to have a long term investment plan.

Action Item: Regarding politics, get out and vote; regarding your investments, this is a great week for some inaction

As always, when in doubt, zoom out.
